What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind that occurs to varying degrees, every day of our lives.  When we are daydreaming, experiencing strong emotions, reading, or are in the moments before falling asleep, our wandering conscious mind creates a state of hypnotic suggestibility.  It is a natural phenomenon.  With your consent, this hypnotic suggestibility can be recreated in hypnotherapy.  Hypnotherapy is a powerful and effective tool used to release blocks and maximize potential.

The result is the powerful experience of having your conscious and unconscious mind work in harmony to achieve your goals and desires.  In guided hypnosis, you learn how to embrace and use to the fullest the rich capabilities of your mind.

Hypnosis is a conditioned response- meaning the more it is practiced, the better your results will be.  It is a safe, effective, and drug-free alternative to promote profound changes in transforming your life.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What does it feel like in hypnosis?
Hypnosis feels like being incredibly relaxed and open to suggestion.  You are simply receptive to positive thoughts and suggestions, which can help to modify or enhance your behaviors. Most people find being hypnotized to be a very pleasant, relaxing experience.

Will it make me do anything I don't want to do?
You cannot and will not ever be asked to do something that you are not comfortable with or have not previously discussed with your hypnotherapist.  You remain- through-out the entire process- in control of what you choose to accept.  You are able to come out of the state of hypnosis, at any point, at will.

What if I can't be hypnotized?
Hypnosis is a state of relaxation.  You've probably been hypnotized once today already. Have you ever been daydreaming and missed your exit on the highway?  That is a state of hypnosis.  We experience varying states of hypnosis on a daily basis.  It is a natural physiological phenomenon, related to a deep state of relaxation, but also connected to a state of heightened focus. This state naturally occurs when you are falling asleep, since the hypnoidal state precedes the sleep process.  It also occurs when you are engrossed in the learning process, when you are emotionally experiencing the action on the football field, or when you tear up watching a sentimental movie.  These are all states of heightened suggestibility when we allow ourselves to accept the experience and we learn in the process.

What are the unexpected benefits of hypnosis?
You may find that you unexpectedly respond to daily challenges with calm, effectiveness, versus undesired reactiveness.  You may find that people who previously used to "get on your last nerve", are now just watched by you like last season's sitcom.  You may find while reading new material, that your mind is lucid and easily absorbs the information, keeping you interested and excited.  With this new calm and receptiveness, you may doubt yourself and ask where all of these changes are coming from, because they will happen organically and on your terms.  Your unconscious will be primed to act on what you consciously knew all along- that these responses and behaviors are simply a better choice for you.  After a session, clients frequently report feeling refreshed, renewed, and re-energized with a new motivation for the continuous quest for excellence.  You may set your own limits, but you may also find that -  there are NO limits.

What is NLP?
Neuro-Lingusitic Programming refers to the workings of the mind (neuro) and language (linguistic) and how they work together, influencing our behavior and body.  NLP Practitioners tap into the neurological wiring of our system, which connects the language of speech and the body's movements, thus retraining our being to achieve desired behavioral outcomes.   This occurs through specific techniques, visualizations, and body-mind training's.  Positive changes can be achieved in a person's behavior, thinking and emotional make-up.
